Anyone with virus symptoms should self isolate for 14 days, not visit the allotments and follow government advice. The over 70s are especially at risk.

The allotment committee has decided to cancel the volunteer day planned for April 5th and the plant sale on April 25th. The Cardiff RHS Show has also been cancelled.

The shop will remain open unless government advice changes, but there should be only one customer at a time and customers should wait outside the shop, keep at least 2 meters from everyone else and minimise handling. Shop volunteers should wear gloves and regularly use hand sanitiser.

The National Allotment Society has also come up with some good advice.

When you visit your allotment:

Keep at least 2 meters away from other people.

Avoid all body contact and do not shake hands.

Do not share tools.

No unauthorised people should visit the allotments.

Use hand sanitiser before and after opening and closing the gates.

Wash your hands regularly in clean water but do not use water butts and tanks.

If you keep livestock at your allotment, take a photo and keep it on your mobile phone. If the government increases restrictions on movement, you may need this photo to prove that you have visit the allotment to feed your animals.
